Client Brief

Mitsubishi Corporation is one of the top sōgō shōsha or large trading companies in Japan. The client wanted to showcase its wide-ranging subsidiaries to international investors, as well as emphasising its efforts in energy and digital transformation. But how do you explain a complex international conglomerate with many competing priorities and diverse operations in an engaging way, all under two minutes?

Our approach

We created a story that began with Mitsubishi Corporation’s roots in Tokyo trade and ran through to its diversified portfolio in energy, materials, new technologies and food. The aim was to delight the audience with a script full of visual interest. We worked closely with our client to guide them through the storyboarding process, from black and white sketches with clear action descriptions to colour scenes and moving animatics. We researched sound early on to bring the animation to life in the final mix, enhancing a sense of place.
